Tines Academy › Lesson

Build it, run it, monitor it

Follow a workflow from first draft to live, and learn where to look when you need to check whether it's still working.

Objective: Explain how a workflow moves from draft to live, and identify where to check whether it's working.

From words to workflows

In the last lesson, you explored a finished review request workflow. It didn't start out finished. Someone described it in chat, built and tested it on a draft, pushed it live, and now keeps an eye on it.

Knowing that path answers two questions you'll run into often: when a workflow starts doing real work, and where to look when someone asks whether it's still working.

By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to follow a workflow from first draft to live, and name where to check on it.

The life of a review request workflow

Before you move on, check three things: which version of a workflow runs automatically, where you'd look to see whether yesterday's run succeeded, and why changing a draft doesn't affect the people using the live version. If you can answer all three, you're ready for the next lesson.

What to do if something still feels fuzzy

A workflow only starts doing real work once it's pushed live, and the Runs and Monitor tabs show you whether it's still working. Next, you'll describe a workflow of your own clearly enough for Tines 3B to build it.
